We’ve updated the backup system in ispmanager

You asked and we delivered: in release 6.103, we have simplified the interface and expanded the options in the backup settings. For example, you can now choose to create backups on any day of the week. We also divided the settings into basic and advanced sections and added the ability to specify the volume size in the panel.

Read on to find out what has changed in the interface and backup settings.

We removed complex notifications and shortened the path to the backup settings.

BeforeAfter
  1. Go to the panel. A window with the “Not enough data” notification appears.
  2. Fill in the form to set your backup settings.
  3. The backup window opens. Select “Create backup”.
  1. Select “Backups” from the menu.
  2. Click “Create backup”. All the basic settings are there – you can change them in the “Settings” widget.

We rewrote the hints and tips in the panel so that it will be clear to any user how and why to fill in the fields in the settings. We also added a link to the documentation in case you have any other questions.

We’ve divided the settings into basic and advanced sections. Everything used to be in one place so it was not always clear what to choose and for which tasks.

Now novice users can select basic presets right off the bat and start a backup to local storage, while experienced users can go to the advanced settings and fine-tune their tasks.

We’ve enabled volume size customization. You used to have to set the volume size manually in the configuration file. Now, you can do it with one click in the advanced settings.

What the volume settings look like:

We’ve enabled the customization of the backup settings and schedule. You used only to be able to configure two parameters: the number of full and daily backups. A full backup could be created only on Sunday, which was not always convenient for servers with a heavy load on weekends.

Now, you can create a schedule that works for you by selecting the right date and time. You can also disable the full or backup schedule and create copies manually when needed.

Important. By default, backups are only created manually. To enable automatic backups, go to “Settings” → ‘Schedule’ → ‘Automatic full copy creation’ → ‘On schedule’.
